Dave Neath
Dave has been in many successful bands over the years and has built up a wide repertoire of songs. Dave sings, plays guitar, backing vocals and provides the occasional lead break on guitar. Watch out for the infamous "Les Dawson" lead break in Hi Ho Silver Lining - eat your heart out Jeff Beck!
Starting in Yorkshire, Dave has played music from Folk to Country, John Denver to heavy rock. Whilst living in Oxfordshire he became involved with bands in the Oxford area before joining The New Dorne Valley Boys. Dave left New Dorne Valley to play with Memphis who were based in Oxford and who were very popular around the clubs in Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties.
In the 80's he was the leader of the original Front Page News who were extremely popular and recorded a single which was featured on a TV show when they made a plant pot out of it - OK we know it's an old joke! Dave left the band and began a successful solo career playing all over the South of England adding comedy to his music to become an all round entertainer.
During a trip to the USA Dave was invited to join a group of musicians for gigs in the U.S.A. and Canada. Dave played with the band, all of whose members were from the USA and Canada, in Dallas Texas, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta Georgia, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Orlando and San Francisco generally entertaining audiences of around 5000 and including a street gig in Toronto which temporarily stopped traffic, attracting the attention of Toronto's finest. The band briefly toured the UK in 1998. Dave left the band in 2001 finding the travelling too much but still keeps in touch with many musicians from the USA, sometimes including them in performances when they are visiting the UK.
Dave likes nothing better than to see an audience enjoy themselves and will work hard to ensure the sets are appropriate to the occasion with enough flexibility to accommodate requests.
Dave plays a wine red Gibson 335 and a Gibson Spirit (quite a rare guitar in the UK) through a Mesa Boogie amplifier.
